The ending of that movie sucker-punched me so hard. We were in shock, and I remember crying so hard at the ending, it felt like I couldn’t breathe. In the book he spends a majority of the time trying to befriend the dog as it’s his only other possible companion, only to have the dog die shortly after finally coming together.
