National Guard join the Guard, do basic training just like everyone else in the military, go through tech school to learn their craft, and then they are returned back to their state. They live pretty normal civilian lives and have normal civilian jobs until stuff like what’s happening now pops off. Or if there is a natural disaster, they will often help with the relief. Sometimes they get deployed or they are made temporary active duty. It’s like they put on a uniform and forget that they’re part of the communities that they’re currently acting against.
